The course duration is one day (9am - 5pm) at our Training Centre.

The course will take place at our TDN Training Centre in Peterborough, UK. 

Who is this Accreditation designed for?

This Accreditation is for all PDR Technicians who have been working within this industry for at least 2 years to ensure they are familiar with the techniques and methods used in Paintless Dent Removal (PDR).

Will I get a Certificate?

Yes. Upon completion of your course, you will receive an official IMI personalised certificate in the post.

The course Structure:

PDR Flat Panel Repair - 1 hour

A normal door dent repair proving competence for the most straight forward repair of the test. With no obstructions the technician needs to show he/she has the correct knowledge with regards to the methods and tool selection required to repair the damage in a clean manner. Making the damage flat and back to factory condition with no alterations to the orange peel of the paint or any damage to the underside of the panel.

PDR Swage Line Repair - 1 hour

A more complex dent which incorporates various stress points in the metal that will need to be addressed in the correct sequence allowing for a clean and successful repair. The body line will need to be rebuilt without any deterioration to the paint or high spots changing the factory finish.

PDR Restricted Access Repair - 1 hour

This damage is in an area where the technician has to carefully select the tools that will gain access behind the dent. These tools able to be used are a lot thinner, maximum diameter 1/4”, and sharper so more controlled pushes will be needed to execute the repair returning the area back to factory specification.

MET - Minor

An important part of PDR is being able to access the reverse side of the damage. To do this often requires the technician to remove parts such as tail lights and door cards. We check that the technician obtains the correct manufacturer methods and follows these to remove and replace the parts without damaging clips and trims or interfering with any sensors and associated components.

Visual Vehicle Appraisal

The technician must show an understanding of what type of damage is suitable for PDR and advise other suitable repairs if necessary. We need to make sure that the technician is advising the correct method to ensure no unnecessary liability arises as a result of giving the wrong advice. For example, a simple bumper scuff may have caused more damage than is apparent, including sensor misalignment. In this case more investigation is needed or calibration required rather than just referring for a smart repairer.

PDR Technician UPK Assessment

This part is a controlled theory test performed through the IMI portal. It concludes the assessment day and proves the technician is competent in general vehicle repair as  well understanding general legislation and health and safety laws.
